David, from the UK.

Been a Christian for about a year in a fundamentalist church. I suppose you could say that!

Thank you Ed.

I am part of a quite strict church which demands accountability from its members. It's under the denomination of Baptist, although it is "progressive". It has helped me so much in every way. I'm just looking for further guidance in other matters - my girl and I have grown apart a bit.

Welcome, David_K.

I have to admit I'm a little curious on how your church is both "fundamentalist" and "progressive" at the same time. I see those two terms as polar opposites.

Regardless, it's good to have you here.

My confused use of terms, I think. You're right.

It's fundamentalist. Scrub progressive - I meant "uncompromising".

David,
It's a pleasure to have you join us. You'll find a wide diversity of viewpoints, sharp disagreements sometimes, but most of us can "disagree without being disagreeable." I look forward to getting to know you better through your participation here. Feel free to comment on any existing thread or start a new one.

Thanks Lamar.

I did post a few pics, but requested they be taken down, as I don't think people want to see my ugly mug just yet!

Hello and welcome, David_K! My father-in-law is from Sunningdale, Berkshire in the UK. My mother-in-law is also from the UK, but I'm not sure of her hometown (the in-laws were divorced when I met my wife and we don't see much of mother-in-law).

Where are you located?

Welcome to the insanity, but sometimes I learn something important here and sometimes I'm challenged where I need to be. There is good fellowship here including the personal kind.
