My wife, with her MCM from SBTS, has been Minister of Music in SB churches (5) from the mounains of Eastern Kentucky to Louisville, rural and urban, and in independent Baptist churches was well. There's never been a problem with her finding opportunities to seve in this capacity. The Lord doesn't call people into ministry without preparing a place for them. (BTW: not being ordained may actually be a plus.)

Welcome, Shana!
I go to a SBC church, and right now we have an un-ordained lady leading the worship... Usually, LW, a male intern, leads it, but while he's out of town, despite the fact that there's other guys on the worship team that could lead worship (including the lead pastor, a former music leader), BJ (the lady) is leading the worship...either we're odd SBCs, or the ones in your area are odd SBCs.

Depending on your willingness and ability to relocate, CBF has a placement service that seems to be pretty pro-active. I'm in education/discipleship and got a lot of calls from churches when I was looking around.
I also notice quite a few ads for music/worship leaders advertised in Baptists Today. Their website is linked to this one.

Ed; I am not convinced that it is Michael who has some thing wrong with him that causes you a problem in understanding what he he is saying.
Perhaps the problem is with you.
You might have a different impression if you stop to remember that you are not the only nor the first Scott on this board. Perhaps you didn't read it but our friend Scott has been terminated by the church where he most recently served. Who on this board has called you Scott since you explained why you changed your name? Michael and others of us have also offered encouragement and advice to Shana. I see nothing in what Michael wrote to indicate that he may be ticked off at you. Your suggestion that he is talking about you smacks of paranoia and or a huge ego problem.
I will leave it to Michael to take up the second paragraph of you blast.
I would how ever suggest that if the two of you want to discuss "The Theology of Call" or your views of the other or of me take it to the Baptist Faith and Practice board' If others want to welcome Shana that would be appropriate. [/quote]
